“It was a warm summer evening, the sun was setting behind the mountains, and Bastian Baker stood with his guitar intimately close to the guests. There was no big stage, no barriers — just music and emotion. You could feel the atmosphere change as soon as he started to play.”

Nadine Friedli’s words make you wish you had been at the concert. As you can tell from her enthusiasm, The Alpina Gstaad’s General Manager is a music fan. She’s the inspiration behind the hotel’s music programme, a dynamic mix of soulful jazz, upbeat swing, and acoustic music from an international line-up of talented musicians and bands. Throughout 2025, the exclusive guest performances have animated the Alpina Lounge and the panoramic terrace.

“Music has always been an essential part of my life,” explains Nadine, who grew up listening to a variety of genres. “I particularly appreciate artists who combine authenticity with emotion, like Bastian Baker. For me, music is more than entertainment; it’s an experience that connects people and creates unforgettable moments.”

This was the inspiration behind the music program. “We want our guests to experience something that moves and surprises them — whether it is a sunset performance on our terrace, or an intimate jazz night in the bar,” shares Nadine. The celebration of art and culture is a distinguishing feature of The Alpina Gstaad, so “the music is curated to enhance the atmosphere of the hotel.”

“Our guests come from all corners of the globe and bring diverse musical tastes,” explains Nadine. “That’s why an international line-up is essential — but we always make sure to include a strong Swiss presence.” In addition to Bastian Baker, Luke Burr enchanted guests. DJ Antoine and Armando kicked off 2025 on an energetic note, with a house set that guests could not resist dancing to. In the summer, the U.S. artist and Grammy winner Will Gittens lit up the stage. “Known for his mix of pop, R&B, and reggae, the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist captivated the audience with his soulful voice and dynamic stage presence,” recounts Nadine, smiling about the memorable performance.

Two jazz groups made The Alpina Gstaad swing: the dapper musicians from The Art Society brought vintage charm while the Swiss group Jamin Heaven seduced with their smooth saxophone and grooving stand-up bass. “An avid follower of the music scene, I personally choose the artists for their high quality and authenticity, reaching out directly to them,” explains Nadine. “Securing popular musicians like Bastian and Will can take patience and dedication - but it’s worth the effort.”

This blend of global names and local talent makes the music programme truly unique. Nadine shares, “We were overwhelmed by the wonderful feedback. Some said these moments were among the highlights of their stay. For me, that’s the essence of true luxury — intimacy, emotion, and authenticity.”
