With my team of nine porters, chasseurs, and three concierges, I face new challenges every day. I feel like a conductor, making sure that everyone is in the right place at the right time. I remain close to guests in order to understand their expectations and keep an agenda in which their personal demands and wishes are noted, many of which are recurring.
How long have you been employed at The Alpina Gstaad?
Shortly after the hotel opened in December 2012, I took over the position of Head Concierge, aged just 25. Taking on such a position so young is rather unusual.
Did you always want to be a concierge?
I always knew that I wanted to work in the hotel industry. I trained in hotel management in France, have worked all over the world speaking four languages (English, German, French, and Spanish) and have strong communication skills. I am convinced that this kind of work has to be a calling.
And what do you do when you have time off?
In order to maintain a work-life balance, I enjoy fishing and go on extended ski tours in the region. I have become rooted in the Saanenland, which I now call home.
What makes Saanenland so special that you settled here?
I have had the privilege to travel all around the globe. In the Saanenland I have found a place that is peaceful and quiet, but in which I can also feel connected to the rest of the world.
