Swiss excellence
Since 1997, renowned journalist and publisher of The 150 Best Hotels in Switzerland and hotel-tester Karl Wild has conducted the Karl Wild Hotelrating Switzerland. He has just handed over the reins to gastronomic journalist, author, and epicurean consultant Andrin Willi. Now known as the Andrin Willi Switzerland Hotel Ratings (Hotelrating Schweiz), The Alpina Gstaad is delighted to be in Andrin Willi’s inaugural list as Top 5 of the 35 Best Holiday Hotels in Switzerland - as well as the highest ranking Gstaad hotel. This esteemed list appears in the NZZ am Sonntag (Sunday paper) and NZZ Bellevue (lifestyle section) for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, also known as New Newspaper of Zurich.
Known as one of the world’s best, the Swiss daily newspaper has been lauded as one of the “most serious newspapers in the world.” The Alpina Gstaad is particularly appreciative to be featured in this Swiss cultural icon, given its steadfast commitment to sharing the ultimate in Swiss gastronomy, design, and luxuriousness with its guests.
The Alpina Gstaad has once again been recognized among Switzerland’s most distinguished hotels, earning 3 MICHELIN Keys by the Michelin Guide 2025.
This marks the second consecutive year the iconic Gstaad property has received this prestigious distinction - a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence, authenticity, and refined hospitality.
Bilanz Housekeeper of the Year
When leading Swiss business magazine, Bilanz, surveyed 200 hotel experts to determine which employees were the best in Switzerland, it was no surprise when Daniela Probost won 2025 Housekeeper of the Year. A true accolade since only 11 hotel employees were awarded. The head housekeeper at The Alpina Gstaad has worked here since its opening in 2012. In addition to knowing the hotel inside and out, she knows the regular guests as if they were family - and by name, of course. Daniela’s speciality is the details: a guest’s favourite flower, whether they prefer privacy or conversation, and other individual desires. With her watchful eye, she ensures the rooms and bathrooms are meticulously maintained.
A testament to Daniela’s passion and commitment? She founded the Alpina Housekeeping Academy, an inclusive initiative that teaches professional skills to those without formal hotel training, an important step to meet the growing demand for highly qualified hotel staff. Given The Alpina Gstaad’s dedication to our employees — the backbone of our world-class service — we are unbelievably proud of Daniela’s award. “This recognition is not only well-earned but an inspiration to us all,” Nadine Friedli says with pride. “Thank you, Daniela, for raising the standard.”
