Kobi Zeller came up with the chicken

Jakob "Kobi" Zeller keeps 2000 chickens in Gstaad. As a chicken farmer, he is unique in the Saanenland.

Saanenland is characterized by farmers and their cows. Jakob Zeller from Grund near Gstaad, who is known to everyone as Kobi, relies on bipeds as a farmer. "A breakfast without milk is just as sad as one without an egg". This conviction drove him to purchase chickens and start producing eggs almost thirty years ago. Together with his wife Lydia, he now looks after the welfare of 2000 laying hens. Kobi is a local and very communicative. "That's what it takes if you're going to conduct a business here that's maybe atypical to the usual farming." He has built up a network with which he has found long-term buyers for eggs and soup chickens, who also reside outside of the Saanenland and appreciate quality.
