What began in 1862 as a modest rope factory in Dintikon, Switzerland, is now a global company that provides mountain sports enthusiasts with high-quality products combining functionality and contemporary design.
What started off as a small family business has grown to become a world-renowned brand and a company of around 800 employees. Kaspar Tanner - Mammut’s founder - mainly produced ropes for agriculture until the 1950s when the company launched the first glacier rope made of nylon – a milestone for mountaineering safety.
In addition to legendary Swiss quality, Mammut is also known for its innovative spirit and its outdoor clothing made from revolutionary textiles. In 2002, the company was one of the first outdoor outfitters to commit to a more sustainable approach.
In addition to reducing emissions, Mammut is doing everything it can to make its production processes more environmentally friendly and has been working with bluesign® since 2011. By 2025, the goal is for 90% of the Mammut range to be made entirely from materials certified and approved by bluesign®.
