The power of images

Renowned photographer Reto Guntli visited the most beautiful places in the world with his colleague Agi Simoes to bring you his very own Travel Inspirations.
Reto Guntli, you took photos in Gstaad for your book “THIS MUST BE PARADISE”. What does this corner of the world mean to you?
I discovered Gstaad while taking pictures for the opening of The Alpina Gstaad. I found the harmonious coexistence between the locals and the discreet international jet set rather unique!

What can readers expect from this book?
The idea of this coffee table book is to prompt readers to dream and travel better. It is also essential for the hotel industry to adapt to the challenges we face today. We hope we can convince readers to favour environmentally friendly establishments.

Why did you decide to include The Alpina Gstaad in your selection?
The Alpina Gstaad is a member of NOW and an inspiring example for other hotels. We had very high standards when selecting hotels for this book, and we found that many only pretend to act sustainably for PR purposes. Yet it’s key for all hotels to rethink their approach and take action, just like The Alpina Gstaad has been doing for a long time.

How important is sustainability to you?
It should be clear to everyone by now that there’s no time to waste. We all need to take steps to implement more environmentally friendly habits, even if that involves some compromises.

Warm welcome to the digital magazine of The Alpina Gstaad to discover the secrets of its region and philosophy.
