Opened in 2012, this award-winning hideaway is staunchly anchored in principles of sustainability, responsible energy consumption, and the safety of its guests. It participates in the Swisstainable national tourism programme, partners with EarthCheck, the N°1 benchmarking, certification and advisory group for travel and tourism, and the NOW Force for Good Alliance for sustainable travel experiences and a responsible approach towards impacts on communities and the environment. All accompanied by enthusiasm for serenity, natural beauty, art and craftsmanship. These last two factors take the form of Alpine architecture, traditional expertise in carpentry, top-quality materials and fabrics, to ensure a warm, tasteful atmosphere.
The pursuit of these goals is entrusted to Nadine Friedli, Deputy General Manager/Finance and Administration Director, supporting the General Manager in investment decisions which, in 2021, included renovation of the hotel's frontage. The hotel Management and its Chief Engineer always plan a year ahead for new construction and refurbishment. The work encompasses public premises, the grounds, pools, guest rooms, repainting, relaying of carpets, new tableware…, with sustainability exemplified by microfibre bathrobes and spa towels.
Hugo Egli, the hotel's Chief Engineer with five members in his team, is responsible for all maintenance, repairs, planning and security. For the 2021 spring extensive renovation, the south-east and west facades were sanded and repainted over a period of 10 weeks, with defective timbers replaced. 95% local, the firms involved included Werren AG, Chaletbau Matti, Adolf Krebs AG, ISP-BKW Gstaad… Using local wood and quality materials, each detail contributes towards the hotel's commitment to 5-star comfort - and a renewable future.
